Bullet CTF GT Grooved Discs

GT Brake Discs (or Rotors) are grooved and thermally treated discs
The elliptical grooves ensure more efficient cleaning of braking dust and help improve braking performance thanks to the gaps in the lubricant film made possible by the surface design. They are particularly recommended for driving on wet roads.
The main advantages compared to normal discs are:
o quicker reaching the operating temperature
o reduced disc and brake fluid overheating
o improved friction coefficient and brake pad compression
o higher stability and reduced noise even during hot-braking.
Suitable for road use.

Why use thermally treated discs? During the casting process some irregular tensions usually develop within the material structure. The subsequent machining and finishing treatments needed in order to create grooves and/or bores further contribute to weaken the structure. With the extreme heat produced by heavy braking the discs could be subject to deformation, cracks and eventually sudden shatter-cracks.
With thermally treated brake discs these problems are eliminated by means of a 36 hour treatment at controlled temperature, pressure and humidity and a controlled cooling period which stabilize the material.
